new joerb

You know it completely slipped my mind to post an update on this...

So yeah, this past week I started a new job. I'm now at BottleRocket. I'm still in Carlsbad (less than a mile from the old place) and I'm still doing the same thing (environment art), but (no offense to High Moon) it's for a much MUCH hawtur game. It kills me that we haven't announced, but you can be assured good things are forthcoming.

fair judgement

If anybody's going to the San Diego County Fair this year, stop by the photo exhibit and go see these two shots in all their 16x20 goodness! You know, because you can't say that you've really seen my photos until you're looking at them while eating a deep fried avocado.

la jolla redux

The whole reason I got a fisheye lens was, well...okay, so maybe there wasn't any reasoning to it. But I knew I wanted one the last time I was in La Jolla. Two months ago I got it. Then throw in some circumstances and a sick day and I'm back in La Jolla. :)

the return

Being without my camera for two weeks sucked. I contemplated on living with the dead pixels on my sensor, but then I realized that a 1K camera probably shouldn't have anything wrong with it. So B&H did an exchange and I finally got it back last week.

Now this one doesn't have any visible dead pixels on the sensor, but there is one on the LCD screen. I guess I can live with that, but mostly because I don't want to deal with sending it back again. For the record, an LCD pixel is ok since it's just on the screen, on the sensor it's bad b/c they get recorded on every photo you take.

Anyway, I took it out to the WAP on Sunday. Here's the set.

hmm...something's fishy...

Ah yes. That would be my new lens. 10.5mm fisheye. Oh yes.

Btw, thanks everyone for the suggestions in the previous post. Flies? Yes. Boston? Yes. Night shots? Yes. So much to look forward to. Now I just need to get my arse in gear.

Photo Hiatus

I haven't really found the time to go out and take any new photos.

hm.

While it is technically true, it's still a slightly bullshit excuse. I think the biggest problem is that I'm lacking motivation. Ivan K. suggested going out a documenting all the various taco shops in San Diego. Cool idea and I believe I'll do that. But I was wondering if anyone else had any other suggestions on stuff to shoot?

Please help.

Danka.

something old, something new

I went walking around La Jolla at the end of last month and took some photos. What's that? You say that was almost three weeks ago? Yes, you're right. Very observant of you. The thing is I got caught up with something else. Another blog was born of it.

a year of photos

I'm not sure why having something printed makes it more appealing, but for some reason it just does. And so, with that, I present to you - a year of photos, by me:

As much as I would like to give these away, I don't print them myself (these guys do). So, if would like one of these, you can buy it by following this link. The best I can do for you is give you this free shipping code - freeshiptaf - that expires feb.14th.

That's that.

By the way, I also took some photos at Point Loma this past Sunday...

It's 2007!

That's right. Our snowman was complete with chest hair, nipples and a cigar. You're so jealous.

What I learned at the end of last year:
- Snowboarding is fun.
- Pai gow is fun.

What I've learned at the beginning of this year:
- Walking outside in the cold at 2am against heavy winds for a mile is not fun.

Sadly, we have no documentation of our New Year's plight, but you can be rest assured we made it back to our lodgings safely. And, regardless of that, it was definitely the best New Year's thus far.
